Winter Schedule 2012

Dear Continuing or Prospective Student:

Listed below are descriptions for the Winter classes I am scheduled to teach in the coming weeks and months through Albany Park and Recreation Program. I enjoyed teaching through Albany Adult School for many years. However, the minimum number of students required to start a class became very high and it was hard to get the classes going. Please note that this is new: the minimum number of students needed to start these classes is much lower (4) and these classes are not offered through Albany Adult School. The Winter/Spring Activity Guide for Albany Park and Recreation Program is now available in print or online and registration is now open.

Scroll down further to see the dates, locations and registration information for these Winter classes I plan to teach.  Please note: you do not have to be a "senior" to sign up for these classes.

As usual, anyone who is a returning student gets a free gift and anyone who recruits a student to a class also gets a free gift.

If you are interested in an upcoming class, please register soon since classes must meet minimum enrollment in order to be held.  Registration is sometimes possible at the class but only if enough students have registered before class start date. Hope to see you in class and Happy Holidays!

Feel free to e-mail or call me if you have any questions.

 Best Wishes,

 Stephanie Scott

Painting and Drawing/Watercolor
Open to all levels.  Beginning students will work in watercolor, learning the basics of watercolor painting, including mixing and applying washes, use of color, value, line, shape, form, light, rhythm, and texture.  Class includes instruction and demonstration of specific techniques such as “wet into wet” and “drybrush” and different ways of starting paintings.  Beginning students are shown specific exercises to learn about color mixing and paint handling after which they may work on subjects of their choice.

Advanced students can work in watercolor or their choice of media, with instructor working with them individually.  Basic drawing and composition as it relates to creating a painting will be taught to all.

Students are encouraged to create visual richness by developing the thought and feeling in their work.  Students should bring any supplies they already have to first class.  Materials will be discussed and list handed out at first class.  Students suppply their own paint, brushes & paper.  $4 materials fee due at first class.

Drawing with Pen, Ink and Brush
Open to all levels. Pen, ink and brush is an inexpensive, easy-to-use drawing media that can resemble an intricate line drawing etching or a painting in black and white. Beginning students will work in drawing with pen, ink and brush. Techniques such as free-flowing pen and brush lines and shading with cross-hatching, stippling, and wash to achieve a range of values on the gray scale will be taught using a variety of approaches and exercises. Students who have taken a class with Stephanie can work in their choice of media, with instructor working with them individually. Students will supply their own pens, ink, brushes
and lightweight paper. The instructor will supply special paper, other materials and will contact students regarding supplies. $4 materials fee due at first class.
